Weekend Reading List

4th of July! Fireworks! And books. I had a quiet weekend in beautiful Pray, Montana, staying at a cozy cottage. It was such a nice break between the end of summer school, and going back to work full-time.

This is what I read:

Olive's Ocean, by Kevin Henkes

Their Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston

The Time Warp Trio: Summer Reading is Killing Me! by Jon Scieszka

I also read some poems by Wendell Berry, from the book Given. Morning and evenings are such nice times to read poetry! Especially when you're reading about nature, and you're sitting on a back porch with mountains to either side of you, and a creek rushing by a few yards away.

  2. What did you think of "Their Eyes Were Watching God'? I just picked up a free copy of it from my teacher. Have you ever read Zora and Me? It's a bout Zora Neale Hurston. It's a 'tween' book we read in round table this summer. It's good.

  3. You should read it, Britta! I've never heard of Zora and Me. May I borrow it? :)

Amanda, I really liked it. The first half of the book was a little slow, but I read that quickly. The second half was intense, but it took me forever to read. I had about 30 pages left and I didn't want to finish, but kept complaining (Anna can attest to this) how it was going to end badly. It didn't end badly - the ending is one of the best things I've read in a long time.
